Welcome!

My name is Emma and I am a fine artist based in Hillsdale, Michigan.

I find solace in the simplicity of the natural world, yet I am continually captivated by the ornate beauty of the earth’s most unlikely creatures and patterns. Growing up in a rural community, agriculture was always a part of my life with combines and garden harvests indicating autumn, and young lambs and morel mushroom hunts marking the coming of spring. The Lord’s creation is the foundation of our heritage and tradition that influences how we see life, and my life is ruled by the changing of seasons and the pockets of fleeting beauty that can be found in each one.

Through my studies of the natural sciences and art, I have deepened my passion for conservation and agriculture, and the importance of good stewardship to preserve and appreciate the inherent beauty found in these things. Embracing the simplicity of nature and everyday beauty in my work, I use oil paints and watercolor to bring appreciation to the complexity and awe found in the seemingly mundane. I hope through my work, you leave inspired to be a better steward and cultivate a deeper spirit of nurturing and to protect this beautiful world the Lord has gifted us.

Emma lives and studies in Hillsdale, MI with her dearest friends, where she will graduate in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Art with a minor in Biology. She grew up in the small town of Gibsonburg, OH where she was surrounded by family and the love of animals and agriculture from an early age. She has a deep passion for nature, strong coffee, kind people, and joyfully gathering over good food and drinks. Wherever she goes, odds are high that she will locate the closest animal. When not studying, you can find Emma painting, knitting, at the animal shelter, planning her next travel adventure, or perfecting her bread baking skills.
